I’m a 4th year medical student at Keck School of Medicine of USC applying into general surgery residency and an officer in the US Navy Medical Corps.

My previous research explored biology in extreme systems through astrobiology and bioastronautics. I am now pursuing a surgical career in trauma or transplant surgery, with a focus on high-acuity operative management, resuscitation, and the care of patients with complex multisystem disease.

I step out of my comfort zone and grow by consistently challenging myself, gaining new experiences, and excelling in various disciplines that I am passionate about.

I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in May 2022 with a master’s in aerospace engineering, where I also completed my undergrad summa cum laude. In August 2023, I started medical school under United States Navy scholarship in pursuits of becoming a Navy physician to serve my country by providing patient care for sailors and marines in critical need.

Medicine & Surgery

At the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, my clinical training has reinforced my interest in a surgical career centered on trauma and transplant surgery. My medical school research has spanned translational trauma surgery immunology and clinical trials focused on optimizing massive transfusion protocols. I am particularly drawn to high-acuity operative care, resuscitation, and surgical decision-making in critically ill patients.

Astrophysics & Geology

In undergrad, I majored in astrophysics while also completing the planetary sciences sequence for the major. My diverse exploration into the field of space sciences has informed my research of Martian environments, terrestrial analogs, and the biological effects of human space exploration.

Aerospace Engineering

My master’s degree in aerospace engineering was coupled with a focus in bioastronautics and certificates in astrobiology and satellite system design. I was able to study extravehicular activity and space mission design in depth through my program. Before medical school, I taught digital logic design and engineering dynamics at Oregon State University and Central Oregon Community College, respectively.

In 2019, I hiked the 2650-mile Pacific Crest Trail spanning through California, Oregon, and Washington.

This challenging journey changed my life and shaped many of the perspectives I have today. This has informed how I approach my work and how I see my place in the world.
